I've liked quite a few of the Subjective Realities films in the past, but that was atrocious. Smug, showed contempt for its audience and empty.

I really hope no taxpayers' money went into it!

I've been watching underground and experimental films for 20 years - Andy Warhol, Stan Brakhage, Maya Deren, Richard Kern, Nick Zedd and Terence Davies all did it a lot better. I guess all I can say is to make more films, then there's a chance that they will get better..

Next month I'm bringing a gong ;)

Sorry it wasn't your cup of tea Dave - to be fair, it was one of the more experimental things we've screened and a rare exception to our 15-minute rule - but hopefully one of the good things about MovieMaker is that it's an opportunity to screen/see a wide variety of material. Plus we had a lovely chat about non-psychological cinema and the philosophy of boredom afterwards. Glad to hear you're still coming next month, though I'm not sure about that gong.

Oh no, I'll always come along if I can make it - and to be honest in a way, it was good to have something that caused a strong reaction!

I'm always a bit more inclined to say that especially in the lower budget world and independently-made films that don't have to follow a corporate or funding body agenda, there should be a bit more passion, so fair play, that was a good example of it. Still didn't like it though, in fact it was the motives of the filmmaker I'd question.

However I'll leave the gong at home next time :)) cheers Tom.
