Plug: Film Night at Rococo
from 9pm on Wednesday 18th June 2008

Friend of the blog Ryan Owen passes on this message:

On the 18th June, Rococo on St Mary’s Street (where the Toucan used to be) will host a night of local independent films. Quality short films – from comedy and thriller to arthouse – as well as local music videos will be played on the venue’s three large widescreen TV’s with an excellent sound system and relaxed vibe, between breaks of alternative music and socializing. Entry is FREE and due to the expected student draw drinks offers will be available – so even if you're not into film the night will be enjoyable. Local filmmakers whose work will be shown include:

Will Hitchins
Oliver Milburn
Ryan Owen
Tom Severn
Oz Thakkar
Si Truss
… and more.

If you like films of any kind there’ll be something there you enjoy. If you know any of the filmmakers come along to support them – and local film. The night will also act as a tester for a possible monthly event, so of course, if you yourself are a filmmaker come along and see if you’d want to submit your work for future nights!

Last night at Chapter MovieMaker: June gems

Here's what happened, and the order it happened in:

- Malcolm Boorer screened After the Clean Up, a documentary about his trip to Zimbabwe;
- Wito Werner presented another doc, this time on D-Day;
- Chris de Lloyd showed us The Surface, an Arctic-set animated short;
- Michael Aaron and the Subjective Realities gang unveiled their Mode in Mind, a music video for Staedler & Waldorf;
- and while Nick Stubbs' Matinee featured an uncomfortable cinema experience, it didn't make for one.
